I know a lot has been written about the new "norm", that being online is where we are all at now. We now find most of our connection through various social media platforms for fun and for business.
Yesterday I spent most of my day connecting with people in person. In person is my preference. In person allows me to understand and listen much more effectively and makes those conversations more meaningful to me. Hearing a person laugh versus seeing an emoji reverberates throughout my whole being and leaves me with the high induced by positive endorphins.
Making the time to connect in person means I have to adjust my priorities. Yes it would be easier to sit here at the computer and do my thing. But I always come away with something when I meet a friend or colleague for a coffee date or business meeting. A laugh, an idea or a shared struggle. A look, a hug.
The internet and social media are here. It is the new way of life. It brings some brilliant advantages and cool stuff with it. But it will never replace the truer and deeper connection of "us".
Pick up the phone today and make a date. For fun, for business, for your health.
