The Inner Game

I am all about the inner game.

The inner game is all the stuff that goes on in our hearts and minds everyday.  It encompasses our strengths, beliefs, insecurities, abilities, and our determination to succeed at what we have decided is important to us.

In business as in life, we need a clear vision and an understanding of ourselves.

Think of this as your foundation.

You may have great business skills or a fantastic product to offer, but if your inner life is chaotic and in turmoil, it will eventually effect your outer life.

Here are a few of my suggestions on how to strengthen your inner game:
  • Practice a bit of silence and self reflection every day.  Ask yourself what you want and why you want it.  Don’t judge your responses…accept them.
  • Be an observer.  Notice what attracts and repels you.  Do more of what attracts you.
  • Ask yourself if you are using work/business/busyness as a distraction?  Is there a deeper need that isn’t being met?  Allow and accept the answers of your heart and then do something to address your needs.
  • Seek clarity.  Return to your personal vision of success daily.  Remember that with clarity comes confidence.
  • Find people who are like minded and on the same path who will understand what you are talking about and will know how to support you.
  • Know that it is OK to change direction; to grow into whatever is calling you.
  • Everyone struggles, don’t compare yourself with someone who looks like they have it all together and don't adopt someone else's definition of success.
  • Believe you can succeed by believing in yourself.  Find some way everyday to affirm this.
  • You are the expert in your own life.  Trust yourself.
  • Don’t tie your inner happiness to the outcome of an external goal.

By detaching yourself from external influences and focusing on creating a strong inner game, no outcome will master you and your journey forward will be unencumbered by whatever baggage you used to carry along with you. ~Yaro Starak

Mastering your inner game will help you to reach your goals and aspirations with less stress and forcing.  What is one thing you can do today to begin?
