So what can you do when the phone isn't ringing and the email is quiet? Here are a few suggestions that will keep you on track and organized....ready for when that phone does start ringing again and you don't have time to even catch your breath!
Catch up on your business reading and learning. Personal growth and professional development often get pushed to the bottom of the list when you are busy, so take this time to brush up on your business skills, take a course or read that book you have been meaning to get to.
Evaluate your past year in business. What worked really well? What needs improvement? Did you meet your business sales goals? Identify problem areas and come up with solutions. How will you go about implementing the changes needed for the new year?
Organize your office and office systems. Take the time to make changes that will improve your efficiency. Every time you can't find a document or a pertinent piece of information is time lost, not to mention the extra stress disorganization causes you!
Plan to get ahead of deadlines and obligations. If you know that next month you have a number of commitments, do what you can now to prepare. Preparing ahead of time will also help you to see where there might be a problem; better to solve it now then at the last minute.
Organize your finances, start your budget planning for next year. Sit down and develop a financial plan for your business. Financial clarity is gold! Not one of your strengths? Hire a business coach to help you set financial goals or bookkeeper to help you set up systems.
Brainstorm additional sources of revenue. How can you develop your current products or services to better serve your customers? What other products or services can you add to your business that will increase your bottom line?
Create a marketing plan and calendar for next year. What social media channels give you the best returns? How will you use them in the new year to increase awareness about your business and gain new customers? What other ways will you reach your customer base? Networking, classes, advertising? This is a great time to be putting effort into answering these types of questions.
